Almost all the whitening creams include a lot of chemicals and bleaching agents which are very harmful for the skin and the overall health as well. These harmful chemicals include Hydrogen Peroxide, Zinc peroxide, bismuth sub nitrate and many others. The bleaching agents which are very harmful include steroids, mercury salts and hydroquinone. Hydroquinone and many of these other bleaching agents have been researched to be responsible for Leukemia (Blood Cancer). These agents also cause the skin to lose its natural protection against the sun and this can cause skin cancer. This is why hydroquinone is banned in many countries.
