My Dog Won't Let Anyone In The House And Bites!! What Can I Do?

My female whippet/greyhound rescue (had her a few years) wont let anyone in the house - she constantly barks and want to bite them - her bites are not that harmful as she has lost a lot of teeth but its still quite painful and obviously not acceptable, as it could really hurt someone one day. When with her alone at home she is like a baby, so its not her nature... We have tried ignoring, telling off or measuring her. Help!!!!!!!!!! Thanks

You need a trainer in behavior. There might be a bad history with strangers for this dog, and she's had enough. It could be any number of things.
I would get the trainer. Hope this helps, good luck.

This behaviour clearly points to a dog that has reached the 'pack leader status' and is only protecting his territory by not letting anyone into the house. At this point the most effective way to handle this is to get the intervention of a qualified dog trainer who will change the behaviour of the dog.

When I was groing up... People used to keep the animals in a different room when people came to visit... It made the dog a better watch dog.... If she is older; you might want to keep her confined while entertaining... She may not be willing to change what she was raised with... I don't think thats all bad but if it bothers you... Try introducing her to one person at a time...until she feels safe with them.
