Market segmentation is very important in target marketing. It refers to the process where a market is divided into distinct subgroups or Market segments based on their similar characteristics and needs. It is important because through this concept marketeers are able to identify segments that are homogeneous in their needs and attitudes and then devise a marketing strategy that would target all of these groups.
