What Are Device Drivers?

Device drivers mean that, drivers or small programs which are used for particular devices to use them on computer. Some devices on computer can be run without installing drivers or you can say that they dont need any driver for operating. For example, hard drive, LAN card and RAM. But some devices cannot operate without installing drivers.

For example, you have inserted a graphic card on your motherboard. But you cannot use it until you install its drivers. Similarly without installing drivers for TV Tuner card you cannot use it. In simple words you can say that drivers are small programs which help to communicate a device with computer. Some times when you use a latest program in your computer then the device which gives support to that program does not support and you see the message on your screen as "please install latest device drivers". So with the improvements in programs device driver also need to be updated.

You can see the demonstration of the message" please install latest device drivers" by installing a latest game and using an old graphic card. I am using NVIDIA graphic card and when I run he game " Need for Speed Most Wanted" then I et the error as please update drivers of your Graphics card.
