 Slovenska Republika is the Slovak name for the Republic of Slovakia. It is a landlocked country in central Europe. The official language of the country is Slovak. The capital and largest city of the Republic of Slovakia is Bratislava. It is located at 48 degrees latitude of and eight minutes to the north and at a longitude of 17 degrees and six minutes to the east.

It was declared an independent country on January 1, 1993, following the split of the former Czechoslovakia into two separate and independent entities, namely the Czech Republic and the Republic of Slovakia. It became a member of the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2004.

The Republic of Slovakia covers a total area of 49, 037 square kilometres. It has a total population of about 5, 401, 000 according to the population census conducted in the month of July 2005. According to the 2001 census, the population of Slovakia was approximately 5, 379, 455. It has a density of population of about 111 square kilometres.
