Standardization means the classification of something. In marketing mix the 7th P of marketing is people. So as you know we can classify the people according to their age. The age wise breakup of people is done in the standardization process. Organizations do the standardization of people in order to judge their needs, wants and demands, once their age wise demands are identified then organizations try to full fill their demands in order to increase their market share and earn profit.
Now let's take a look at standardization of people
Child from age of less then a year to 2 year creates demand for Diapers and dry milk, and other baby products; from age 2 to 5 yrs their needs becomes different; after 5yrs to 10 yrs their needs become more advanced than in their starting phase of life, now they will demand better clothes, books etc...
From 10 to 15 yrs old they enter into teenage which has different needs and this process continues till 60-80+ years. On each level or stage needs, demand and wants change. Also people are standardized and classified on the basis of gender, culture and the environment they are living in.
So the breakup of all these factors is done and they are further divided according to the company's product and its target market area.
