How Did Copernicus Contribute To The Understanding Of Science?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Nicolas Copernicus displaced Earth as the center of the Solar System, as had been erroneously asserted by the ancient Astrologers. The belief that Earth was at the center of the Earth was originally promoted by Ptolemy as a wrongful assertion, which was later adopted and incorporated by Christians into religion. Copernicus discovered and encouraged the idea of Heliocentrism which suggested that Earth is a planet like other planets which revolve around the Sun in stable orbits. He had published his findings in his book and succeeded in getting acclaimed for his work.
