Where Is Kielder Reservoir?

The Kielder Water Reservoir is a man-made reservoir. This is located in Northumberland. The Kielder Forest skirts the Reservoir. Northumberland is placed in Northeast England. It is encircled by the county of Durham on the west, Tyne and Wear on the southeast, part of Scottish country on the north. The eighty miles of coastal area is embraced by North Sea. England is a country in north-western part of Europe and is one of the four countries that form the United Kingdom. It is skirted by North Sea, Irish Sea, Atlantic Ocean, and the English Channel.

The Kielder Water Reservoir was built during late 1960s. There was water shortage and the water availability was not enough to meet the increasing water demand of the industries of UK. Thus, this reservoir was planned. Today springs. It maintains high water level irrespective of the climatic conditions. This provides water to the Dervent Reservoir when its water level is low.

Kielder water dam was built 1.2 km long and 50 metres high near Falstone in the River North Tyne valley.
