How Do You Make A Hand Puppet?

A hand puppet can be created out of any kind of fabric that you desire. I suggest use a material like felt of cloth to make puppets of people and use suitably coloured fake fur if you are creating an animal puppet.

Firstly, draw the design of the puppet on to a stiff paper sheet or thin cardboard. Draw all the elements like the head and the neck, and then create arm shapes which should stretch outwards. Ensure that the space between the underarm points of the design is narrow so as to let the wearer insert a thumb and the little finger into the respective cavities. Keep half an inch to the outline for seam allowance and then cut out the design. Cut out corresponding pieces of fabric and stitch it onto the pattern. Your hand puppet is done.
