What Do Kabbalists Think Of Masturbation?

Of course, this is natural and everyone (well almost everyone) does it at some point during their lives.  Some people do it often, some barely, and some don't do it at all.

Kabbalists believe that it wastes one of the most important ways to connect to the Light.  It places male self-pleasure as worse than female self-pleasure because male self-pleasure wastes semen which is the closest source to the Light (because it has the power to make life).  Female self pleasure does not waste Light in the same way, but it does belong to the 1%, the tiny sliver of earthly pleasure that does not connect to the Light.

The problem for the Kabbalist with this is that it is really just an act of selfish gratification which is not shared with someone else and is not done for anyone else's pleasure or benefit, it does not bring you closer to the soul of another.
