Why Do Women Wear A Scarf - Islam?

It is a symbol of differentiate between a  muslim women and women of other religions.it is a symbol of womens honour ,dignity and respect.it shows that women is respected in islam.

God asked the women to cover their body from head to toe, and the only parts that are allowed to show are the face ( forehead to chin) and their hands, Their head has to be covered so as not to show their hair to men and that the scarf covers their back and their breasts.  They also have to wear a long "cloak" to cover the rest of their body.

Both of the other answers seem to just state what woman wear in islam but not give a good introduction to why they wear it right??
Well.. Ima muslim woman, and i wear head scarf in islam because it shows people for 1 that i am a muslim, and it looks modest, and presentable, and you dont have to wear a cloak* abayaa) as long as ur modestly dressed and presentable and decent then it can be anything! Hijab( head scarf, is also worn by nuns in catholicism, and christianity!  Also worn in rome and italy to go to church. Its a mark of respect to cover your head before God.. Although God can see u 24 hours a day! It shows comitment to your religion.. A woman is less likely to comit sin if she is wearing a scarf than without 1, as shes going to think twice and be aware of how she looks on the outside and her self respect and morals etc.  Hope this helps x
