What Does Harpoon Mean?

A harpoon also known in French as Harpon is an instrument or a tool that is used for fishing. This tool is a long spear like instrument. It is also used to catch any other large animals, even whales. It is sometimes even used as a weapon. The famous Greek historian Polybius, in his past, used to hunt for swordfish with a harpoon.

Centuries back it was used as a two flue harpoon, which was mostly used as whaling across the Globe, especially in Arctic. Later in the 19th century came the one flue harpoon. Later in the mid 19th century the harpoon was used with help of iron and this very invention was introduced by Lewis Temple. The latest harpoon is seen as a hand-held harpoon gun.
