Will A Car Overheat Without A Thermostat?

    Not very often but YES some times in the city! Will your performance suffer? YES! Will your gas mileage go down? YES! Will your heater work as good in the winter? NO WAY!

      I think it is more likely that the engine will never reach operating temperature.  Water would circulate immediately from the engine block to the radiator, where it wil be cooled and then go back to the engine.  It may cause engine damage.  There are a lot of opinions on this subject if you search "no thermostat in car".
