 Do we learn from history?

Honestly, I do not believe that we learn anything at all from history. We tend to learn what mistakes we are about to make again. That's about it. We do not learn. If we did, we would not have allowed the massacre of thousands in Yugoslavia, we would have learned from the Nazi's reign. Instead, we stood by and watched as people butchered each other. It is as morally reprehensible to do nothing as it is to assist them.

We cannot learn from history because we live in the moment, the present time, and the problem is that the motivations of the human being are universal, they continue out through time just the same, greed and lust, gold and sex, they continue to drive people and so we continue to do the same things. Sometimes our weapons and ways change, but essentially we are frighteningly similar in the way we behave.
