How Must Is The Wheat-back Penny Worth?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

All wheat pennies are worth at least triple their face value unless they are badly damaged or almost totally worn out.  There are a few that  are a little more.
The most valuable wheat penny is the 1943 wheat penny.
There were three kinds of pennies made in 1943 there are only about 40 1943 copper pennies  known to have been made. They were most likely made by accident when copper blanks were left in the machine as they  began make the new steel pennies. The steel pennies look like silver, but they are steel. Then there is the steel penny that is covered with copper. If you have one of the is a 1943 cooper penny its worth about 70,000.00  to 200,000.00 dollars, as these are very rare.  To determine if it is in fact  not the steel penny covered with copper you can do the magnet test. If the penny sticks to the magnet it is made of steel and is not valuable. If it doesn't  you are going to be a rich person.
