What Are Your Favorite Animes, And Why?

After watching Ah! My Goddess season 1, 2, the movie, ova, and mini-goddesses for the third time, I decided that I needed to find a new anime. SO, I am turning to you, bluters! Once a week I will ask this question, so it stays near the top. I want to hear what your favorite Anime is, and why. Please note, that while InuYasha, Naruto, and Dragonball are all very popular, they are kiddy stuff, and I want to hear about the obscure. I promise to post what my favorites are as well. Thank you!

I love the Fullmetal alchemist. I believe it to be a masterpiece. It's powerful, provacative, and the ending is the best I've ever seen. Deathnote and Samurai Champloo are two my favorites but nothing is as
    grandeur as the Fullmetal.

Oh, man... What a question!  I probably shouldn't answer this one, as I'll just end up gushing on about a dozen or two series... But what the hey...

If you are looking for a little more obscure, and avoid the cute (well the extreme cute) I gotta recommend:

Rozen Maiden (2 series, and 2 OAVs) - Magically animated dolls created by one man, team up with a human (who becomes their 'medium', and source of their power), and attempt to fight each other for the right to become 'Alice'...

JigokShoujo (Hell Girl)(2 full seasons of 26 eps each, and another soon to be on the way) - On the internet there is rumored to be a site that if accessed at the stroke of midnight by one who truly desires vengeance, they will be contacted by a 'Hell Girl', who will take their tormentor straight to hell... For a price.

Monster (Single run, 1.5 Japanese seasons- 74 eps) - A brilliant young brain surgeon, at ethical odds with the desires of his department chief, chooses to operate on a 10yr old boy who has been shot in the head, instead of the mayor, because the boy came in first, and discovers he may have saved something more sinister than an innocent child...

Bleach (160+ episodes and still showing in Japan) - A young man encounters a strange and serious girl carrying a sword... As his home and family are attacked by some huge spirit creature with a hole in his chest. And discovers that the girl is a 'Shinigami' (Death God) whose job is to release the souls trapped as these 'Hollows', and send to the next world those souls stuck here after death... But when she is nearly killed defending him from this 'Hollow', he must take up the rainment of a Death God, or watch his entire family's souls consumed by the hollow... And it turns out he's good at it...

Potemayo (12eps) - Ok, I'm not gonna avoid all the silliness. I'm including this one because it always makes me laugh... - Sunao Moriyama is a junior high school student living life with (and without) his constantly-traveling father. Things change when he encounters a strange, childish creature that came from his refrigerator. With the help of his newfound friend, Potemayo, Sunao learns that life is about more than just school.

Ghost Hunt (24 eps) - Mai Taniyama enjoys telling ghost stories in the dark with her friends, until after meeting 17 year-old Kazuya Shibuya, and discovering that the instruments she accidentally broke while investigating some movements in the old 'haunted' school house, belonged to Kazuya and his ghost hunting business... And now she has to work for him on his cases to repay the damages she's done... And discovers that maybe ghost stories are a little bit more than just stories...

      Pumpkin Scissors (24 eps) -
After a long war with the Republic of Frost, the Empire abruptly signs a cease-fire, ending the war. Three years later, the Empire is in ruins with starvation and plauge. Former soldiers have become bandits. Former Anti-Tank Trooper, Randel Orlando, unexpectedly runs into and joins the Pumpkin Scissors platoon, an Imperial Army relief effort led by Alice L. Malvin to restore order to the war-torn Empire.

Heh. I'll stop there for now... If you find you like them, gimme a shout. We can chat some more... (^_^)

Is that last CIAO! simply the signoff 'Bye!'? Heh. I looked on animenewsnetwork.com (they rock), but didn't find an anime, so thought it might have just been you sayin 'Caio!', neh?
Oh, yeah. Take a look at:
      Inukami!
      Negima?!
      SaiunkokMonogatari
      Juuni Kokki (12 Kingdoms)

Yoshinaga-san'chi no Gargoyle (Gargoyle of the Yoshinagas)
      Angel Heart
      Oran Highschool Host Club

(^_^) I could go on, but I'll leave it at that...

My favourite anime are Boogiepop Phantom, Higurashi and Monster.

I like the surreality and psychological aspects of all three series. A mind-screw can be fun!

If you need more anime to watch but don't know what to watch, I suggest http://anime-planet.com, you can even list your favorite anime there and see how much time you've spent watching anime.
