Who Is Kate Beckingsale?

Kate Beckingsale is an English actress.

She was born on the 26th of July 1973 in London, England and is the daughter of comedy actor Richard Beckingsale, star of 'Porridge' and 'Rising Damp', who died when he was 31 years old.

Beckingsale was an incredibly academic child. She won the WHSmith's Young Writers Competition on two occasions, once for poetry and once for a collection of short stories.
After finishing her A-levels, she attended Oxford University to study French and Russian Literature. She quit the university after three of the four years of her course, as she had realised when living in Paris, that she wished to pursue her dream of becoming an actress.

Her big break came, when she was cast in Kenneth Branagh's 'Much Ado About Nothing' in 1993.
She went on to star as the lead in larger movies such as 'Underworld' where she met her future husband Len Wiseman who was the director of the movie.

Beckingsale has a daughter called Lily with her ex-boyfriend Michael Sheen.
