    Where Did The Expression "shot Gun" Originate From When Referring To Riding In The Front Seat Of A Vehicle?

    Not 100% sure, but I think it goes back to the Wild West. A stagecoach would usually have one man driving and one armed, in case of robbers.

      In the covered wagon days one person would drive while the passenger, typically to his right, would be armed with a shotgun in case of animal attacks or robberies.
