As your cat grows older, she will sleep more and more. In addition to watching her diet and need to encourage her to play by leaving trays out and setting aside time each and every day with her. Slowing down of the elderly cat would be quite happy lazing in a warm spot and moving only to eat and relieve herself. But her health will be better if you encourage her to play and remain active for as long as possible.
Some veterans even have short periods of being kittenish again. Your cat has been with you for many years, and you have learned to trust each other. Gently groom your ageing cat everyday even if he is short haired. As you comb him, run your fingers lightly over his body to see if he is developing tumours. Many old age tumours are benign but its best to have a vet check them out in this case.Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for an old sick cat is to have him to put to sleep humanely by your vet.

That's remarkable! 18 years! I hope she's doing all right. Have you taken her to a vet? Maybe they can prescribe medication to lessen pain or something...
