Rainbows are made from the sun shining through the rain drops ; which creates the different colourss :)

OMG how did religion get into this question... Its the suns rays being refracted though raindrops which forms an arc of colours in the sky; a rainbow! If refracted twice, there will be a double rainbow where the second is lighter & opposite colours. The colours of the rainbow is the order of wavelengths (long to short); ROY G BIV - red, orange, yellow, green, blue indigo & violet :)

God created rainbows as a sign of the covenant He made with mankind (Noah in the immediate sense)  to confirm His promise He would never destroy the whole earth by flood again.  Genesis 9.
It is not a phenomena or a fluke of nature.  It was designed beautifully by God Himself, and for a significant purpose.  It should not be used by certain lifestyle choice groups as their 'emblem.'  It is sacred and blessed by God.
