When Was Che Guevara Executed?

Che Guevara was executed on 9th October 1967, at a schoolhouse in La Higuera, Bolivia.
The Bolivian Special Forces received a tip off from an informant about the location of Guevara's guerrilla encampment. The encampment was encircled, on 8th October, and Guevara who was leading a detachment with Simeón Cuba Sarabia in the Quebrada del Yuro ravine, was captured.

Guevara was wounded in the legs and offered to surrender. His rifle having been destroyed by a bullet, there was no way to put up a fight. According to some soldiers who were present at the capture, as they approached Guevara during the skirmish, he allegedly declared, "Do not shoot! I am Che Guevara and worth more to you alive than dead."

Bolivian President Rene Barrientos hastily ordered his execution when he received information on the capture of Guevara. Guevara was escorted to a dilapidated schoolhouse in La Higuera, a village nearby, where he was held overnight. He was executed early the next afternoon.
