    After a successful playing career at Bolton and Merseyside giants Everton, Peter Reid went in to football management, with his first position at Manchester City.  

    Reid took over at Maine Road in November nineteen ninety and remained at the club for just under three years.  Reid took charge of the club for one hundred and thirty one games, winning fifty six, losing thirty one and drawing only fifty four.  

    After leaving City in the summer of ninety three, Reid didn't return to the game until March nineteen ninety five when he took over as manager at North East club Sunderland.  

    Reid spent seven years at the club an took charge of the side for three hundred and fifty three games, winning one hundred and fifty nine of those, drawing ninety nine and losing ninety five.  Whilst manager of the club, Reid led Sunderland to the Premiership and two successive top ten finishes.
