What Is Multimedia?

Multimedia can be defined as the digital representation of blend of audios, videos, bitmap images, data and graphics. Media can either be linear media (space based media) or 2-d media (time based media). Time based media and space based media jointly gives us a media which can be termed as multi media.

It is a media that process information like text, graphics, animations, video etc. it also refers to the use of electronic media to store which stores and processes multimedia content. Multimedia basically means that computer information is represented via videos, audios, graphics and animations. One of the particular applications of multimedia is "hyper media". Multi media demonstrations and presentations might be seen in the flash on stage, projected, transmitted, or can be played locally on a media player. Recording of events and broadcasts can either fall into analog or digital electronic media technology. Multi media which is online in digital form downloaded or streamed in order to view. Streaming multimedia can either be live or on-demand. The multi media games can be played personally in an area with some particular and special effects. These games can be played offline on some computer game system or even in online network.

Multimedia is a media which uses various forms of contents. If the term Multimedia is used as a noun then it means a medium with multiple content forms. If the term is used as an adjective then it refers to a medium as having multiple content forms. Multimedia is different from the traditional media which only uses traditional forms of printed or hand-produced content. Some forms of content used in multimedia include text, still images, animation, audio, video etc. In order to play Multimedia there are information content processing devices like computers and electronic equipment. Moreover, multimedia is commonly used in educational institutions for lectures and in businesses for presentations.
