How Do You Install Floppy Drives?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

In order to install a new floppy drive you are required to remove a diskette from the drive and in place of that, install a new floppy drive. To remove the diskette, you should disconnect it; this can be very simply done by unscrewing the drive and removing the power source which is connected on the back of the drive. To install the new floppy drive you need to select the drive bay and remove the face plate from the bay.

Fit the new floppy drive into the bay and make sure that it is fit. Now, power supply and the ribbon cable have to be connected. The two ends of the ribbon are supposed to be connected to the drive controller and the floppy drive A. You can also use brackets to hold the drive in place. Once everything is together, plug the system in and turn it on.

To install or assemble the floppy drive is such an easy task, if you know the hard disk assembling then the floppy drive assembling is just like that.
There are some easy steps via which you can install your floppy drive:
1: Unpack the floppy drive pack, which you have bought from market.
2: Take the necessary equipments for unscrewing of CPU.
3: Ground your self with some devise or with earth, and also switch off the CPU but leave the switch in plug.

4: Then unscrew the CPU cover.
5: Also remove the CPU's specific place from where we insert the floppy disk.
6: Then fix the floppy drive at the specified location in the CPU.
7: Then tight the screw of the floppy drive (it is necessary to tight the screw, otherwise drive can be damage).
8: Then take the data cable and power cable of the floppy drive, which will be with the floppy drive pack.

9: Then connect the data cable with the floppy drive (have pins like structure) and also with the motherboard.
10: Then also connect the power cable with the floppy drive.
11: Then pack the cover of the CPU, And switch on the CPU.
So your floppy drive is installed.
