What Are My Rights In All This?
I Have A Verbal Agreement With My Cousin To Live In Her Deceased Mother's House For $200 A Month. The Agreement Was For Every $200 Put In To The House, It Would Be Credited To Me As Rent. I Put $6100. Of Constructional Improvements In To This House. This adds up to nearly 3 years of rent paid forward. I have been in this house 10 months now and need to go down south to help my daughter with her pregnancy. I have a grown son living with me here and he has done some considerable construction work on this house. My cousin is now saying my grown son cannot live here while I am gone.

I would listen to davers about this, and I would also seek a lawyer for at least a consult. If you have receipts, you need to be able to show the lawyer, and while you are out of town, you are allowed to have someone housesit while you are away. That is perfectly legal. Hope this helps.

Well being in the construction business and having some customers not pay i can kinda relate looks like you have thirty and a half months of rent coming even if this is verbal a deal is a deal if you have to leave and your son cant live there than i would draft up a 4100 dollar bill to your cousin and if its not paid then put a mechanics lean on the house i know it's hard to do with relatives but if they are willing to do this to you then you should get your money out of it don't think you are in the business of investing your money to make other peoples stuff worth more hope this helps you a bit
