Recombinant DNA is actually a form of synthetic DNA. This DNA is engineered through a combination of one or more DNA strands so that it combines DNA sequences which normally occur together.
This technique was produced by Stanley Norman Cohen and Herbert Boyer in the year 1973. They published it in the year 1974.
There are a number of applications of Recombinant DNA. It is used for the understanding of the pathogenesis of genetic, neoplastic and viral diseases. It is also used in diagnosis of genetic and viral diseases.
Recombinant DNA is also used in Cloning.
