The chances are that your beer belly is actually just a sign of eating too much. Women tend to put on weight around their middles, hips and thighs, whereas men tend to accumulate fat on their tummies. So, a very large belly may not always be caused by beer, but it may be a sign that you really need to start watching your weight.
The best thing you can do is try to lose some of the excess flab and take up some form of regular exercise to help speed up the weight loss. Too much fat around the stomach is not a good sign and there are fears that this can eventually lead to conditions such as diabetes. So it is best trying to get rid of it as soon as possible.
If, however, you find that you really cannot shift the weight, or if you have any other symptoms of illness, it is always advisable to see your doctor.
