How Do You Solve 2x2-5x-3?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    I think you mean 2 times 2 minus 5x minus 3?

If that is true, multiply the 2 times 2 and get 4, then subtract 3 from the 4

    get 1

    5x - 1

If you meant 2 times 2 minus 5 times -3 then you do all the multiplication first PEMDAS.

    2 x 2 = 4
    5 x -3 = 15

the problem is now 4 - (-15).  All subtraction becomes addition and the 2nd number becomes its opposite  4 +  +15 =  19
