    The word sympathetic is used as an adjective and most of the times you will find that the word is being used in association with 'to or towards somebody'. The meaning that you can figure out from the term is being kind to somebody who is very sad or being hurt because of something. You can be sympathetic towards somebody when you understand his problems and have caring attitude towards the person. Given below is a sentence that can make you understand the word well as it is used in context: I did feel sympathetic towards Carolina when she lost her legs in a car accident.
          
    Sometimes the word can also be used when you approve something and are willing to support the views that you have approved.
