He is often referred as the Texarkana Phantom or the Moonlight Murderer as he used to often kill people in the days when the moon was full.  He remains at large till today and the case remains unsolved. The Phantom first struck on the 23rd of February in the year 1964 when he attacked Jimmy Hollis (24 years old) and his girlfriend, Mary Jeanne Larey (19 years old) who were parked on a road. On gun point he forced them off the car and then pistol shipped Hollis. He then sexually assaulted Larey with the gun. As soon as he saw the headlights of an approaching car he fled.

He then attached and murdered Richard Griffin (29) and his girlfriend Poly Anne Moore (17) who were parked aside a road as well. Their bodies were found the next day in the car. Both had been shot in the head. On the 14th of April he struck again killing Paul Martin (17) and his girlfriend Betty Jo Booker (15). Both victims had been shot several times. A few weeks later he attacked a farm house where he shot and killed Virgil Starks (36). Two days later another man by the name of Earl McSpadden was found dead on the railway tracks.
