I'm not a doctor, but my sister-in-law had a similar situation and yes, she did get pregnant. If the IUD has moved down to the cervix it is no longer scraping the walls of the uterus. Hence, an embryo can implant. Take a pregnancy test.

There have been stories of women giving birth to babies and the IUD being wrapped around their arm or leg.So yes go and have a test done so you can take care of yourself and possible a baby.

I had one years ago and still got pregnant with three of my children and because the last one was breach they gave me an x ray, they came back puzzled and said have you ever had a coil fitted. I said yes and they said oh my god it has broken inside of you and it is stuck in your pancreas (I had surgery as you would for caesarian section) so please get yourself checked .

I've even heard stories from friends who got pregnant when they where on the pill and took it every day. There is no sure-fire way of birth control.
