Yes wood art is also a part of Aztec art. Aztec artists also did marvelous work using wood just like stone. Although wood was not alternative of stone but in many of important Aztec temples various symbols or statues were made of wood and statues are covered with gorgeous clothes and wonderful jewelry. Though for Aztecs the emblematic importance of wood is vague. It was found in most of the phrases in Aztec text that states the supremacy of stone statues over the wooden ones due to resilience and fortitude of stones. However, wood is much better than stone rather it is perfect substance for making of objects like shields, masks, and drums etc. due to its weight and quality. Few objects that were used for offering prayer made of wood.

One of finest piece of wood art is Huehuetl (a drum) that was used as war drums and still in used at some formal occasions. In the late eighteenth century the wooden drum tlalpanhuehuetl was found in the city of Malinalco then it was shifted to Museum of Toluca city. The war drum contains the date Nahui-Ollin. Ollin sign was used to characterize the sun movement and the world's vibrant life. Another example of wood art is Teponzatli which is a horizontal drum which is a double sided xylophone. This drum is also located in Mexico City's National Museum of Anthropology.
