The American actor Tony Hopkins, also known as Sir Antony Hopkins plays a stress fracture expert in this mediocre crime thriller drama. This was little stress for the actor who was originally from Wales in Great Britain but became an American citizen in the year 2000. (Which is why I call him an American actor and not a Welsh actor). The film is essentially a reverse detective story, we know whodunnit, we know why they committed the murder, but will the hot shot lawyer from the District Attorney's office be able to close the case before he makes the move to the big time corporate legal firm he has impressed. Ryan Gosling is a good actor, but the character is unpleasant, the kind of cocky young man that Tom Cruise could have played ten years ago. This made me feel that I wanted Hopkin's murderer to get away with it. The film was crudely fashioned, the script was not strong unfortunately, nor was the acting from veteran Hopkins who says he simply turns up with his lines learned these days.
