What Are The Notes On The Piano?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There are white and black notes on the piano.  The white notes have names beginning at the far left and called:

    A-B-C-D-E-F-G  and then it repeats.

The black notes are "behind" the notes.  If a white note is "lowered"(to the left) 1/2 step, it's called a flat (b).  If a white note is "raised" (to the right) 1/2 step, it's called a sharp.

So, for instance, if you are a D.  The black note immediately to the left of D is called Db (D flat).

The black note immediately to the right of D is called D#(D sharp).
