    The term E Currency, also called as electronic money, digital money or scrip is used to refer to the money that is transferred from one entity to another only by electronic means. This process concerns the usage of computer networks, the World Wide Web and value systems that are digitally stored. An instance of an electronic money transfer is a direct deposit.

    Nowadays most of the money used is generally electronic in nature, and the use of hard cash is developing into an infrequent phenomenon. Owing to the advent of services like online banking, debit cards etc, paper money is fast seeing extinction.

    The benefits of electronic money are that it is very convenient, and one can easily perform big money tasks like investing without needing to physically handle money.
