Peter Boyle was a legendary American actor who lived from 18th October 1935 and sadly passed away on the 12th December 2007 after suffering from bone-marrow cancer and heart disease.

Boyle was born in Pennsylvania into an Irish-Catholic family. As a young man, he became a Christian brother and joined a monastery. He left a couple of years later and embarked on a career as an actor. He also married Loraine Alterman Boyle and John Lennon was best man at their wedding.

Boyle starred in many different films including 'Joe', 'Taxi Driver' alongside Robert DeNiro and 'Young Frankenstein' alongside Gene Wilder.

In 1995, he joined the cast of CBS sitcom 'Everybody Loves Raymond' as the character of Frank Barone. He continued this role for nine seasons, even though he suffered a heart attack on set in 1999. Sadly, although he was nominated for an Emmy award on seven occasions, with this role, he was the only one of the five main cast, that did not win the award.

Cast members of 'Everybody Loves Raymond' including TV wife Doris Roberts have expressed their sadness at the recent loss of their friend.
