How Do I Claim My Powerball Prize?

          There are two ways to claim your Powerball prize, but in either case proof of identity and a valid winning ticket must be provided. Any prize that is under $600 can be claimed from any licensed vendor, so long as they have the funds to cover the payment.

          Some may not because of security issues. The vendor does not have to be the same, but any chosen vendor must be in the same state that you bought the ticket. This is because each state runs their computer system separately, and to deter problems with transferring money between states as this could prove detrimental to the retailers and also time consuming.

          For prizes over $600, the claim must be made direct to the Powerball headquarters. The claim can be made via mail and is paid directly into the named bank account within two weeks of the draw and usually within 48 hours of the claim being received.
