Many of those houses were made in Victorian or French colonial styles. Wrap around porches were also the part of the houses built in 1950-1960.

Clubroom Basements in the East where I lived in a 1957 house, were in every home in our suburb of Gardenville in Baltimore,Md. Attics were devitely part of the home construction, and was a great home project to covert to extra bedrooms and bath, as the family grew. Front porches with wrought iron scrolling fencing and a screened back porch off the kitchen door was also an add on when small families got bigger, and the nieghborhood BBQ parties, and family get togethers. Metal cabinets in kitchen with lots of chrome trim. Wood paneling and mural wallpaper was  the in thing.Storm windows that had to come out in the summer, and replaced with screens. In each surburb I remember the house plans where very similar. Row houses where very important near inner city, and ethnic neighborhoods (Little Itlay, etc.) That's my rumunating about our home in the 1950 & 1960's
