I Can't Decide Whether To Have A Wooden Floor Or A Carpet For My Dining Room. Which One Is Better?

Answer Question

There are advantages and disadvantages to both, so it is a matter of personal preference. Carpets tend to pick up lots of dirt and crumbs, so therefore need to be hoovered regularly, but if you like housework then this shouldn't be a problem!

Wooden floors, though, will scratch easily, particularly in a dining room if you are scraping chairs along it before and after you eat. Wooden floors may look more modern overall, but a carpeted floor is more likely to keep the heat in when winter comes round.

If you have children, then carpeted floors may be safer, as wooden floors will be more slippery, particularly when there are spillages.

In terms of which one would suit your dining room better, you need to pick a floor that will go well with your furniture. A wooden floor would perhaps go well with dark wood furniture, as would a light-coloured carpet.
