Who Is Jimmy Carr?

    Jimmy Carr is a comedian.  Born James Anthony Patrick Carr, 15th September 1972, he was born to Irish parents and grew up in Limerick, Ireland and High Wycombe in England.  He attended Caius College, Cambridge, where he read Social and Political Science.

    After graduating, Carr was made a marketing executive at Shell Oil, a job he describes as being the easiest job in the world. He left to take up a career in comedy.

    Jimmy gained recognition as part of the Royal Variety Performance and later went on to host a number of shows such as the morally ambiguous Your Face or Mine and Distraction.

    Jimmy Carr has held the fastest and the slowest lap times on Top Gear's celebrity racing challenge.  The Stig told him he was lucky to be alive.

    The BBC apologised to gypsies everywhere after Jimmy made a joke which appeared to suggest that all gypsy women smell, he still uses that joke in his comedy tour.
