LakotaBear is correct, the Native American Indians were really treated unfairly. I think they were trick, hoodwinked and bamboozled by the Caucasians. Then the Caucasians took and called the holiday we all know as Thanksgiving and acted as if was a reason to celebrate. What are we really celebrating when we celebrate "Thanksgiving"? I still think that the Native American people to this very day have not been treated fairly and no one talks about what happened to them as if it never happened. I have always thought that if anyone was owed anything, that Native Americans should have been the ones to receive monetary compensation for the way that they were treated and are still being treated. America needs to right a lot of her wrongs as far as they have treated some races of people.

I totally agree with you, This country we call America belongs to the Native American Indian, The Caucasians stole it from them. Just like they stole the Africans from their country to build and work this land. They have a lot of debt to pay back. The Mohegans and the pequots are being compensated in CT, if you are member of that race you should be getting a check every month.

Yes, there are still many native Americans out there, just some have giving up some of there traditions so it may be harder to tell. Though, many native Americans still live in Colorado and keep there traditions.

In the past native Americans were treated very unfairly. Some had to work for the new Americans and others were kicked off there land. But when that ended, native Americans kept going with there life.

I commented to the wrong person , I apologize. Seriously there are lots and lots of Native Americans , I live in&tbsp; a household of 8 and there are at least 50 to 60 Natives in like a 15 mile radius, and NO!  we don't live on any reservation. I am Chippewa and my husband is Odawa we have 6 children, we live in Northern Michigan. I think our ancestors lived a long terrible life, but they fought and died for their families and beliefs, I believe that is what makes all Native Americans proud of their heritage and strong willed individuals.

I am a Native Indian, I live in Alaska. I am not an Eskimo, I am an Aleut, and there are plenty of other types of Indians up here. We aren't extinct. We do not live in igloos either, and we drive, and love to go shopping, and have bar-b-ques too. Just like you, we put our pants on one leg at a time. Dynasty1 is right too, Indians haven't had the best treatment in the past, and many of them still live on reservations, where they still have a very hard life. You should do some research on Indians, this would help you out a lot in knowing about us. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

There are Native Indians all over the USA. I'm Mandan, Arikara, Nez Perce, Sioux. My tribes are from Montana and North Dakota. Anyone wanting some information go to WWW.NARF.org   I was reading some older ASK questions and it really opened my eyes how some people are really unaware of Native Indians. In one comment about Hunkpapas it was describing Sitting Bull but then had to go on and say he was an alcoholic  AND  yes there is a high rate of  alcoholism on reservations. Alot of reservations are like third world countries, no water, no electric, no sewer, no phone. Go out to New Mexico and visit the Natives in the Southwest you'd be surprised. Some outsiders would think a Native is rude when their just observing. Our Indian face so to speak. But if people are telling me to go back to my trailer and drink my thunderbird, I think I'd be rude too. I especially dislike the crazy indian on liquor. Heck give anyone liquor (whiskey) and tell me they wouldn't act crazy~ geez.
