It is always advised that you do not take any other medications whilst taking the contraceptive pill. This is because some medications can cause the contraceptive pill to be ineffective and combined they could have harmful effects on the body. So, the best thing to do is to check with your doctor whether you need any other medications and which ones are safe for you to use. Always mention that you are on the pill so that they can give you what you need. Do not just assume that the doctor knows you are on the pill as quite often they forget and they do not look at your records all of the time. So, it is your responsibility to let the doctor know that you are in fact on the pill. It is mainly antibiotics which cause a problem and they can cause symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting.
