    Do 3-Year Old Horses Go Throw A Biting Stage???

    Well there is this horse i want but he seem to always have to have something in his mouth like when you are taking him like you jacket or if he has his blanket on he nibbles on it...will he grow out of it because he is only 3 or do i need to try and fix it know before he bits me???

    It sounds as though he's getting into a nibbling habit. It's better to nip this in the bub and teach him some manners as eventually it will be you that he's nibbling on and they can have a powerful nip. If you don't teach him right from wrong you are putting yourself & others in danger. Remember he is a powerful animal and you need to show him who's boss. I have a 16:2 hh (hands high) Clydesdale mare who has perfect manners so I'm speaking from experience. I don't mean you should start screaming or smacking him, because that just frightens them and shows a lack of control on your part, but a quick yank on his headcollar followed by a firm "no" command should let him know you wont take any mischief of him. With horses & ponies repartition is the key, start as you mean to go on but be consistent with him and tell others so they don't do the opposite to you and mess up your work.
