    You need to reformat the drive in the different file system.  You will lose any data that you do not back up.

    cheaper to buy a new hard drive than that software, I'd stick with backing up data and using fdisk

      You do not need to reformat the drive to convert fat to ntfs. There are software packages designed to do this.  

      Windows comes with a program to accomplish the conversion. It is called Convert.exe. ---} Convert.exe Help {---

      There are also third party packages with more options. One that I have used is
      ---} "Partition Magic" {---.
