Credit Issues - I Feel Penalized For Paying My Stuff Off Rather Than Doing A Bankruptcy!? Can You Help?
We paid off all our credit cards, and medical bills, and in middle of all that trying to keep current with house, two car payments and school loans. Our credit still suffers for the time it takes to pay off these things. We have several friends who have taken out a ton of credit cards, used them to pay off all their bills and debts, and anything else they can think to put on them, then they declared bankruptcy. Now they have better credit than us! How is this possible? We get punished for doing it the honest way

Just another sad fact of life. Banks only lend money to those who don't need it. You can only afford 3 for the price of 2 if you have the money to buy 3 in the first place. And no-one gives you recognition for trying to pay off your debts. It's all a matter of conscience!

I agree with the last answer...you are due to get some kind of assistance here from banks, and trying to pay off debts is a major aspect in your financial life.  Have you tried a debt settlement company?

Yes, they just commended us on paying off things and said our debt wasn't big enough for them to help. We paid off all our credit cards, and i guess that is primarily what they do. Only thing left is a few medical bills which will be paid off in the next 2 months and school loans/mortgage/cars. But i'd like help on building credit quickly and getting negative things off my acct. I have things on my credit that keep popping up that i've paid in full years ago.
