How Do You Tell If Your Cat Is In Labour?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

A cat in labour is conspicuous by its considerable weight gain especially in the abdominal region. The change is not actually notice until the cat enters its fifth week of pregnancy. A cat in labour also experiences morning sickness like pregnant women. Another noticeable factor is the increase in the size of the cat's nipples, usually observed in the 6th week of pregnancy.

Also the cat in labour begins to develop an appetite for more food. This is observed just days before giving birth. A cat in labour behaves in a different manner than usual. They are usually quieter in times of labour. How do you know if the distended tummy is not fatness but a sign of pregnancy? A pregnant cat's tummy is usually inflated slightly more than halfway from the neck to the tail. A fat cat has fat all over the body. By the way, fat cats also get pregnant!
