What Is Santa Fe Trail?

    Santa Fe Trail is basically a 19th century transportation route. This route passes the south-western North America and also connects Missouri with Santa Fe, New Mexico. This trail was first born in 1821 and was used by William Becknell. He usually used the trail for very important profitable and armed highway. This was used till the railroad to Santa fe was established in 1880. The eastward end of this route was situated in the central Missouri town of Franklin on the north bank of the Missouri River. This route was first used by Becknel. West of Franklin the track crossed the Missouri near Arrow Rock, subsequent to which it followed more or less the path of which is today known as US Route 24. It moved ahead north of Marshall, through Lexington to Fort Osage, then to Independence
