Origin Of Surname Boyton?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The surname can be spelled in various ways, some of them being Boyton, Boyten, Boyden, Boydon, Boiton and Boiten. The origin of the surname can be traced back to Suffolk where they where anciently seated as Lords of Manor. Some of the first few settlers of this name were immigrants who arrived along eastern seaboard from Newfoundland, to Virginia, to Maine, the Carolinis and to the islands. Boyton is also the name of a small village in England. It can be found in the east Anglain region of the country. It is proposed to change the name of this village to Bay due to it's proximity to Hollesley Bay. It is said that people with the surname Boyton could have migrated from this village but there is no hardcore proof.
