It is to date not known how many people died during World War II, but it is believed that globally more than 60 million people died during the war.

World War II also known as the Second World War was a worldwide clash, fought mainly among the Allied Powers and the Axis powers, from the year 1939 till 1945. Military forces from more than seventy nations got involved in an aerial, naval and ground based fight. The war came to an end with the victory of the Allied powers.

The direct causes of World War II are usually held to be the German invasion of Poland and Japans attack on China, America, British and Dutch colonies. The rise of fascism also played a part.  The war was started after these destructive actions were met with a formal declaration of the war.
