Why Is My Penis Aching?

Pain in penis can be due to partial healing after prostatectomy and can take several weeks to recover completely. Recovery after prostatectomy is also individual response and differ person to person. You have not indicated which type of surgery was performed to remove your prostate. This pain is usually related with catheter passed after prostatectomy. You should also note for any infection, fever etc. If there are any signs of infection then visit to a your doctor immediately.   

Hi. I had my prostate removed on 17 September 2007. I am 46 years old and experienced quite severe pain in my penis. Well, let me go back a bit. After the catheder was reoved, I started experiencing some kind of spontaneous stiffness in my penis. When this stiffness occurred, I had pain that felt as if it was at the base of my penis, or rather the bottom quarter of my penis. I have a fantastic urologist, but when I asked him about this, we always tend to start talking about something else. This carried on for weeks. I was prescribed to use 25mg Viagra daily. The penis pain persisted, and eventually I was put on the injection. Wow, I nearly died from pain when I had a full erection. The erection lasted for about two and a half hours. A very painful two and a half hours. I couldn't have sex, or even walk. Eventually, after about 10 weeks after the operation, my urologist gave me a capsule, 200mg Celebrex, that I take once a day. After the first capsule, the pain improved about 50%!!! I am on this medication only 3 days now, and feel significant improvement every day! This is fantastic. I still have to see when I attempt the next injection. I must stay on this medication for 10 days. I hope this will be of assistance to you.
